Cramond residents urged to recycle Christmas trees
Recycle your Christmas tree and your other festive leftovers if you live in Cramond – that’s the message from Edinburgh Council.
After opening all your Christmas gifts, there can sometimes be a bigger pile of paper, plastic and packaging than there is of presents.
Also, if used Christmas trees are put out with normal rubbish, they will end up in a landfill site.
If you have a real Christmas tree, you can recycle it at your kerbside, no matter where you live.
If you live in a brown bin area, you should place your Christmas tree at your kerbside on your January pick up day.
To find out your January pick up day, enter your postcode here, e-mail waste@edinburgh.gov.uk or phone 0131 529 3030.
If you don't have a brown bin, or live in a brown bin area, you can place your tree beside your communal rubbish bin on your normal collection day from Monday, January 9 – Friday, January 20.
To get your tree ready for collection, you should:
- remove all decorations
- cut into five foot lengths
- not place trees in plastic bags, as these trees can't be recycled
- place your tree at the kerbside by 7am on the collection day.
You can also recycle your tree at any Community Recycling Centre, such as the one on Bankhead Avenue at Sighthill.
Please note that normal service for garden waste and other collections will resume on Monday, January 9.
