Fire-fighters battle to save historic Cramond Tower
More than 30 fire-fighters battled a blaze at Cramond Tower in the early hours of Thursday 1st December.
The alarm was raised to a report of a house alight at 1.40am at the tower on Glebe Road, which dates back to the 15th century.
Fire-fighters discovered a fire in the roof space of the four-storey, Grade 1 listed building.
Six fire-fighters in breathing apparatus used a line of hose, high-pressure hose reel and a short extension ladder to fight the fire.
The blaze was extinguished shortly before 4am, but fire crews remained on site until around 8am to strip back the damage and carry out salvage work.
No one was injured during the fire and the damage to the property is still to be assessed.
The fire investigation team is investigating the cause of the blaze.
